This app offers mindfulness exercises for adolescents. These exercises might help to reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. The mindfulness exercises adhere to a standardized protocol developed from the mindfulness-based stress reduction (Kabat-Zinn, 1990) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (Segal, Williams and Teasdale, 2002) manuals. Participants are instructed to select specific guided exercises based on their own time-schedule. The skills training has different formats including: movies (talking heads), audio files, and text supported by graphic figures.
The making of this app was part of a scientific project: “You-Mind, Boosting first-line mental health care for Youngsters with Mindfulness”. The project is sponsored by Foundation Huoshen http://www.fondation-huoshen.org/en/. The overall aim of the project is to evaluate the effects of a mindfulness training in adolescents on their experience of emotional distress and quality of life.
